5 Steps to Getting Your Students to Write Superhero Tales with Ease

Kids love superheros!  Creating their own superhero tales can be a fun way to get them writing with purpose.  Here are 5 easy steps to get your kids started with their tales.

1. Have your kiddos create their characters first
I usually start out with the two most obvious characters, the superhero and the villain.  Have them draw and name their characters.

2. Create The setting of the superhero tale next
Most superhero tales take place in the city; however, I encourage students to be creative and come up with exciting new places for their tales.  Maybe in an underground city or on a country farm perhaps.

 3. Step Three should involve creating a problem
The superhero will need a problem that the villain creates.  Do some brainstorming as a whole class before coming up with individual ideas.

4. It's solution time
Every problem needs a solution especially when a superhero and a villain are involved.  The superhero ALWAYS saves the day!

5. Don't forget to have your students create a conclusion!!!!
Often children want to quit writing when they create solution sentences, but every great tale should end with a conclusion sentence.  I give lots of samples for this one as it seems to be the hardest for them.

Now you have created a great rough draft and can begin putting the tale together.  Remember the more organized you are in designing a writing lesson, the better organized your student's writing will be!
Enjoy Creating!
